Not sure who I would pick to say that they'll be a breakout star in 2022. I think if Hook didn't have this strange cult following that he does, he has the natural in ring look, feel and ability that he'd be the man. He's already insanely popular, so it'll be about the push that he winds up getting from it. But the outlook seems really bright for Hook going forward.
I really think Daniel Garcia is a guy who gets it and if he can get the crowd behind him, he can have some really great matches in 2022 with some of the guys higher on the card in AEW.
I don't know if it would constitute being a 'breakout' star but I also really think if they got the wheels behind pushing PAC that he consistently puts out great matches. I know he had the triple threat title match last year, so it's probably not a 'breakout' type scenario, but I'm hopeful he's in AEW full time week in and week out this year, can avoid injuries and do something big.
Preston Vance, The Acclaimed, Ricky Starks and Wardlow are also guys who are poised to make the leap.
I haven't watched enough WWE to really consider myself knowledgeable on their younger guys.

Easy answers are Bron Breakker and Hook.
I think Bron has far bigger star potential but he has a much bigger hill to climb being with WWE. Almost anywhere else, I'd say he's a sure thing, but one wrong comment, one bad match, etc. will have him doing a dancing gimmick or getting the patented WWE "losing streak push." So, who knows.

Well here comes another one out of the Joshi angled answers from me. Who's going to be a breakout star?
First one I can think of is slightly less breakout and more redemption arc in a way. And I might be totally wrong on this. But seeing how much good turning heel did Starlight Kid.. I think Momo Watanabe may break back into a higher tier this year. She has the ability to be sucha cold, aggressive heel that I think this could become the year of the Black Peach. As long as Stardom books her strong, she has the talent to go places and finally get another singles title.

Has to be Jamie Hayter by the end of 2022. She'll get the inevitable Britt feud, so just a matter of time.

I think Danhausen signs with AEW and catches on even more than he already has.
