I felt this was fitting for my final post with Julia and the final show in general. Craig had some ideas with Griff, Brian and Julia that we were going to work on going forward. Not sure how much that will be incorporated into results (if at all), so I wanted to take this opportunity to piece things together.
I had a lot of fun in this fed.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow, including Natalie.
Whatever the reason may be, it wasn't supposed to come to this. World League Championship Wrestling wasn't supposed to close its doors, damnit!
Not after all the excitement that had been created over the past few months.
We were headed towards a Brock/Batista showdown!
Jamie Hayter set a record for most times using the word cunt in an interview.
John Cena was a legend again. [insert puke face emoji]
Booker T was a star in his own shampoo commercial.
There was a buzz. Wrestling was relevant again. People talked about it.
They couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.
.... We couldn't wait.
The moment Julia Hart signed her contract with World League Championship Wrestling, she knew that she was going to be facing an uphill battle. She wasn't exactly sure to what extent, but she could acknowledge that at the very least nothing was going to be given to her. She was going to have to put in the extra work if she wanted to create a name for herself in the wrestling business.
It's the night before Clash at the Canyon. We find Julia sitting at a computer desk inside a large hotel room. She's watching a replay of the Queen of the Mountain match that took place at Ascension. She's done this a dozen times or so now. It's pure motivation for her at this point. As Momo Wantanabe's hand is being raised in victory, she turns the computer screen off.
JULIA HART: So, this is it.
She does a few 360 spins in the office chair she is sitting in.
JULIA HART: You're gonna tell me that this is the end of the road?
She has such desperation in her voice. The feeling of something being taken from her is hurting her from the inside.
JULIA HART: Clash at the Canyon. THE END!?
It's hitting her like a ton of bricks. The feeling of it all coming to an end.
JULIA HART: I'm not going to get my shot at redemption. Clash at the Canyon and my victory against Gigi Dolin was supposed to be the start of something special. The summer of Julia! THE YEAR OF JULIA! It was going to be something like we've never seen before! I was going to earn my shot at the Women's title. I was going to beat Momo Wantanbe... or Hikari Noa! It didn't matter! I was going to win the Women's title. I was going to be YOUR WOMEN'S CHAMPION! Show the Joshi pro and Stardom faithful that none of their talent compares to J-U-L-I-A!!!
Somehow she is able to fight back the tears.
JULIA HART: How can they do this to me?
She's not the only one who feels they are being done wrong in this situation.
JULIA HART: It doesn't make sense.
It's hard to disagree. This all happened so abruptly. Not knowing why is killing her.
JULIA HART: ALL THE WORK I'VE PUT IN! IT'S NOT FAIR!
Just as a tear is starting to roll down her cheek, there is a knock at the door.
It startles her.
JULIA HART: Hello!?!?
A response from the other side.
'It's me.'
Without much hesitation, she gets up and walks over the the door.
It's Ken Anderson.
He's wearing a number fourteen Cincinnati Bengals jersey. He turns a bit and on the back it reads 'Anderson'.
Legend quarterback Ken Anderson.
JULIA HART: Ken.... what are you doing here?
KEN ANDERSON: I stopped by to give you a lil' pep talk before the big day tomorrow. I could hear you from outside, Jules. You doing alright?
His patented smirk lightens the mood just a bit. He seems to be holding a manila package in his left hand.
JULIA HART: Tell me this isn't happening, Ken. Tell me this is all just a bad dream.
KEN ANDERSON: Hun.... life is not fair, okay? That's the first thing you need to realize.
She closes her eyes and begins to take deep, slow breaths. Each exhale is long and drawn out. He puts one hand on her shoulder.
KEN ANDERSON: I know you had hope and dreams of becoming something bigger than any woman before you.
He's seen something in her from the beginning. He hurts for her. He wanted this just as much as she did.
JULIA HART: Just when I had finally rid myself all the extra baggage... Griff and Brian. Gotten the focus back on the important things.... thing.... Me! Me and my opportunities in the Women's division. The entire roster was about to see just how successful Julia Hart could truly be. I was about to climb to levels that no female had even ascended to in the history of this business. I don't care how many hall of fame worthy females have came before me. None of them were going to even compare to the resume I was about to build in World League Championship Wrestling. I was going to use this place as my platform!
KEN ANDERSON: Yeah.... about that.
He reaches out and hands the manila package to Julia.
KEN ANDERSON: This is for you.
She's hesitant to take it.
JULIA HART: What is it?
KEN ANDERSON: Open it up and see.
She grabs the envelope and sits down on one of the queen sized beds. She opens it and pulls out a handful of photographs. She starts flipping through them as her eyebrows raise. Whatever she's looking at, it's shocking.
JULIA HART: Why are you showing me this now?
She holds them out towards him.
KEN ANDERSON: I want you to know the truth.
They both look down at the pictures at the same time.
KEN ANDERSON: Someone was behind all that stuff with Griff and Brian.
He walks over and sits down on the bed next to Julia.
KEN ANDERSON: Paul Heyman. That son of a bitch! He was the mastermind behind ALL OF IT! He caused all of this!
The frustration comes out of Ken in a hurry. He slams his fists down on the coffee table.
KEN ANDERSON: The moment things started to unravel for you guys, I just had a weird feeling. Something just didn't seem right. It was just a small hunch at first. I told myself I was crazy. But, once Brian went off the rails with the alcohol... that's when I knew. He learned enough from his old man's demise to know that's not the path to take. That right there told me something was up.
He put a lot of thought into this.
JULIA HART: Did you take these pictures?
He pauses, trying to give his words some thought before going on any further.
KEN ANDERSON: Let's just say I know a guy who knows a guy. We will just leave it at that.
JULIA HART: This just doesn't make sense. I don't understand how all of this could just happen.
The camera gives us a good shot of the photo Julia is looking at. Paul Heyman and Brian Pillman are sitting at a table inside an unknown diner.
KEN ANDERSON: You're underestimating the power of Heyman. He was playing Griff and Brian against each other. He thought he was going to get rid of Griff and ride Brian's coattail right to the top. That attack backstage on Griff.... it was supposed to be worse. Brian was supposed to end his career. He just didn't have it in him to finish the job.
It's almost hard to believe.
JULIA HART: Why didn't you come to me sooner, Ken?
You can tell by the look on his face that he wanted to.
KEN ANDERSON: I know.... I'm sorry. I just didn't even believe it myself.
A short pause before he softly continues.
KEN ANDERSON: By the time I got this concrete information....... it was too late.
JULIA HART: I should have saw it too. This is all my fault. I know those two more than anyone else in this company.
More disappointment on her face.
KEN ANDERSON: Don't beat yourself up. You just handle your business with Gigi tomorrow. Very few people are going to remember half the events that transpired during WLCW. But, they will remember you. If you make them. Make them remember you.
JULIA HART: I'll be fine against Gigi. I'm not worried about her. I'll give everyone a going away present to remember.
He definitely likes her confidence.
KEN ANDERSON: Good. I'll be in touch. I've got some things lined up for you.
She's surprised. In a good or bad way? Hard to tell.
JULIA HART: Really?
He smiles as he gets up from the bed.
KEN ANDERSON: I've got connections in the wrestling business. You think wrestling is just going to DIE?
We fade out as the last thing we see is Ken Anderson walking towards the door and leaving the hotel room....
One day, maybe we will all understand. Until then, this is it.
The end of the line.
I had a lot of fun in this fed.
