It was a little over 3k when I word counted it so I did some tweaking to get it under and never checked it again. What's Craig going to do, fire me?
Jokes aside. It's been a legitimate honor to have been World Champion for the 42-43 days that'll have passed between Ascension and Clash at the Canyon. I came back to e-fedding in 2018 in EWA and have had a mixed bag of luck as a writer. I helped run an excellent e-fed, watched a lot of my old friends rekindle their magic and seize titles, but I kept having mediocre luck and thought my days of ever winning a legitimate title were gone. WLCW restored my confidence and gave me a place to write as my favorite wrestler again. WLCW allowed me to tell the story I wanted to tell with him and be outlandish without restrictions. Coming in and winning that battle royal was shocking and then winning the World title put me over the moon. I really thought after Ascension we had so much momentum that we couldn't be stopped.
I've told a lot of stories as Cody in other places and in WLCW, and this RP is putting a bow on all of that. I had another idea before finding out that WLCW was shutting down, but I decided to pivot and write the story I wanted to write without the frills. It may not be the best thing I've ever written, but given the circumstances and possibility that I'll never write another word as Cody Rhodes, it tells the one last story of Cody that I never touched on. As a Dusty fan, I hope I did it justice while also tying it into the feud with Malakai and the match itself.
Thank you Craig and WLCW for giving this guy his confidence as a writer back. I tried as hard as I could to be one of the leaders here and I just wish a few more had joined in with us and gave a little more effort and we maybe wouldn't be in the position that we are. It's my honor to be the first and last World Champion here.
No regrets. I'd do it all over again.
