Hey guys,
First of all, let me just say thanks to all of you who have been here since day one and some of you even before then.
That being said, after much thought and consideration into everything, I've decided that Clash at the Canyon will be the last show for WLCW. For what it's worth, it's nothing any of you did or didn't do. It's not the no shows, or the deadliners or any one person or group specifically. When I started this place out, I was able to do a ton of writing at work during the day. My job was menial and boring and I had the ability to just write to my little heart's content. Never in my dreams did I imagine getting a promotion and moving to a whole new department and job. Certainly not this soon into starting this project. I thought I had one, maybe two more years at my current position, but things happened fast and things changed. For what it's worth, I tried to write at my new gig last week. Got the Gigi Dolin vs Banks and Hart vs Kagetsu match written, but was being checked on pretty consistently throughout that process. That, in and of itself, was a sign for me that I couldn't and shouldn't be risking doing anymore writing at work. That took a huge chunk of writing time that I would normally have to get results, announcements and other fun content to you.
I've always been big on time management. I can sit here at this desk as a 38 year old man (lol he's so old) and tell you that I just don't have the time to put out the results and content that you guys deserve as writers. I'm having to set huge chunks of time aside to get the last two shows out. "But Craig, just make results and matches less detailed." Yeah, I don't want to do that because you guys deserve better than that. And while that would be better than nothing, it's not something I'm willing to just compromise on. I've been proud of the results I've put out since our first show and I don't want that quality to deteriorate in any way. Plus, if I'm being honest with all of you - which I've pretty much been since we started - it has felt more and more like a grind than any kind of joy in my life since Ascension. And again, nothing on any of you or anything you guys are doing. It's just been hard for me to get good quality results written and feel good about them.
Obviously, this is not the way I wanted this to go. I had long term goals, plans and ideas for this place that I think would have been pretty cool. I just think...trying to get an efed off the ground in 2022 takes a Herculean effort from everyone involved. From the guy running the place to those who are participating in it. It's just so tough and someone - especially the person running it - had to have the time and effort to be able to dump into it. Early on, I had that, but since the new job transfer, I don't.
So what does this mean for Clash at the Canyon? It means I'm going all out for it. It's going to be my "love letter" to WLCW and what it's meant to me the last few months. It's going to be a full commitment from me on results and a hell of a show. I hope those of you who are booked still choose to RP, but I could understand where some of you would not want to or be turned off by making an attempt. I'll give my full thank yous and feedback after that show. And there was a part of me who wanted to wait until after that show to tell you all this...but seriously, you all deserved to know where my head and plans were at for this place. That would have been unfair and rude of me to wait to tell you all.
Lastly, I'm sorry. I know for some of you, this has been a place and time for you to get back into something on a regular basis that you've missed. I wanted this place to be a real wrestler efed standard of sorts. I never wanted to be an alternative to anywhere else. I never wanted to stand out and be something spectacular. I just wanted to give people a place to write, tell stories and have fun...and I feel like I'm taking that away from some of you and it's the worst feeling. So, I truly am genuinely sorry. In a different timeline, this place continues on and thrives and has some of the best matches we've seen in efeds.
Maybe there's someone out there who read all this and thinks they might want to take a shot at running this place in my lieu...who would read all of this and think that, I don't know lol. but if that's something you want to consider and talk about, my door is open and I'm willing to hand the keys over to the right person in the right situation.
This board will not be deleted. It'll stay here as long as proboards allows it to stay. There's a ton of quality work here that deserves to be displayed and read by wandering eyes down the road.
I hope you all come together with me to make Clash at the Canyon a great and fun show.
Thanks for reading.
Thanks for everything here.
