Ten days ago the Motor City Machine Guns came back to Detroit and defeated 2.0 in what was considered a eliminator match for the tag team titles. Since Ascension the Guns have racked up a series of victories that has put them in line to step in the ring against the Wingmen in just two weeks time. All of their hard work has come to this. The arguments, the insults, and all of the things that were finally brought to light after years of tension have been addressed.
Now the fun starts…
The Guns called Detroit home but for Chris Sabin Seattle has been a place that he has visited both personally and professionally many times. When he and Alex went their separate ways Sabin landed in a town just outside of Seattle. It was quiet, on the water and the weather suited him. For him this is his homecoming and the stakes are about as high as they can get without championship gold being on the line.
A light rain falls as the camera catches Chris Sabin and the Space Needle lit up in blue and yellow. He glances back at the structures behind him and then looks into the lens of the camera in front of him.
CHRIS SABIN: I came to this place right after Alex and I decided to go our separate ways. Actually my home is about an hour outside of the city limits and is on one of the many estuaries that flow into the harbor. In the summer it is soothing and in the fall it reminds me that I should spend more time at home and not as much on the road. I started my solo career in a small arena in the shadow of Lumen Field. As much as Detroit is where the Guns were forged, Seattle is my city. So when Ryan Nemeth decided to run his mouth on Storm I knew it was going to be a prime opportunity to come back to the city behind me and stake our claim to the tag team titles once and for all.
The stakes are pretty high for the Guns and for Sabin most of all. If he cannot defeat Nemeth then the Guns will not be able to challenge the Wingmen for as long as they hold the tag titles. A loss here could mean the end of the Motor City Machine Guns for good.
CHRIS SABIN: In a way I was not surprised when the Wingmen decided to offer up Ryan Nemeth as tribute against us. As a team everybody under the sun has seen Alex and I fight and defeat almost every tag team in the WLCW, except one. As individuals though this is going to be their chance to see if the Wingmen can split Alex and I up and zero in on just one of us. It has worked before across professional wrestling and across history. I guess I am the one that they think is the weak link.
Chris smirks and runs a hand through his hair. If the pressure of the match is getting to him he is not allowing the rest of the world to see it. Deep down inside though he knows that this is his biggest singles match in a long time and could define the future of the Guns and himself one way or the other.
CHRIS SABIN: Maybe it is all of the singles titles that I managed to win across the world. Or maybe it is the fact that I have been in more big time matches than you, Ryan. Perhaps it is something else. Maybe your buddies in that cult of yours just don’t like you and want to see you get your ass beat on world wide TV. No matter what the reason is, the result is going to be the same. I am not only going to beat you in our match but I am going to use you as the errand boy that you are. You are going to be the one that gets to send a message to the rest of the Wingmen. You are the preview to the match everybody has been waiting for since Ascension. Motor City Machine Guns versus the Wingmen. God damn that is going to be something. First though I get to prove to you, to the world, and to myself that I am still the Chris Sabin that took on the world…and won.
Sabin looks back at the Space Needle coated in yellow and blue light. His eyes drift back to the lens with a few moments of pause.
CHRIS SABIN: I am not going to pretend like there are bigger things going on out in the world right now. A lot of people go to bed frightened about what the next day is going to bring. I hope for one brief moment in time that I can give the city of Seattle and everybody who tunes into Vengeance tomorrow night something to cheer for. Welcome to MY city, Ryan. I know you and the rest of Seattle will never forget it.
The scene starts to fade as the camera drifts over Sabin’s shoulder and closes on the Space Needle and the many other high rise buildings of Seattle.
