All right.
First and foremost, apologies on getting the show up this late in the day. I'm hoping this was a one time deal. I make WLCW a high priority in my life for myself and for you guys and the time and effort you put forth. Just had some stuff a little higher up on that priority list come up today and I don't expect that to be a reoccurring case. Big thanks to cxbx mattsydal and of course josh for their help with some of the matches. The no shows are people who told me that they had stuff going on and couldn't show. So nothing was a big surprise or anything and I tried to spin out stories off of those no shows to the best of my abilities.
Shout outs:
Tyler man, you and FUZ made it very difficult. You guys both brought the pain and it was a pretty fun contest between you two. I really love both of these characters and when I read your RPs this week, I was bummed I had to have someone lose. Cause I really like what's going on with Mance and the groundwork you laid. Fuz's Kingston is just on when he hits it though. The voice, tone and dialogue as a whole are just there for me. Fuz is a talented writer, Tyler and I hope you don't take the loss too hard because I think you have a chance to do some really good stuff with Mance here. I wanna get both you guys on the PPV card and that may even be a situation where you're facing each other again...who knows. I had some time today to work out a potential card for that show and you were both on it in a pretty decent capacity. This match was a great showcase for the both of you and the work you do. I'm really happy with both your guys' RPs and I'm sorry one of you had to lose.
RDH + tough first match to come up against Neelan. I know you asked for some feedback and didn't really get a whole lot. hopefully someone reached out to you privately and touched base. If not, I understand that too as it's hard sometimes to give someone feedback on an initial roleplay. Those are generally groundwork laying RPs that are hard to put meat on the bones. Obviously, you've been doing efeds forever and you know that one loss doesn't make a career. I think there's a ton of potential with Priest and I love the take on the character. Neelan is just starting to come into his own with Devitt and his stuff was really good this week. Another tough match with a tough result where I hated to pick a loser.
Then the main event. Brett and mattg - I want you to know that this was the only match I didn't have the ending written to when I went to my stuff today. And in the car drive there and back and even some in between, I thought of a million different ways it could go and there were stretches where I thought Punk was the winner. I really thought Brett had his best RP to date here in any capacity and character this week. I thought he drilled Cardona good and got him with some of the words he wrote. Matt's stuff is just on fire right now though. He's clicking with the character and more so, just like Brett, he's enjoying the writing right now and you can tell. It doesn't have that forced feel and he's kind of doing stuff with the character right now that has a fun feel to it. Matt is just in a good place right now with a perfect storm of character, story and narrative. It's a tough loss, Brett and you know I hate to be the one choosing in a match like this. But it's the job I signed up for when I opened this place. And, trust me when I say this...after today, I hate seeing the people I'm close with and like being down or upset. I know it's a bummer and I know you think you had a good shot to win...because, well...you did.
Like I said, I have some thoughts in my head about how I see the card for Clash at the Canyon and I plan on sending out PM's to people in the next 24 hours to help them get that set up and moving in that direction. Vengeance card posted later tonight will also give a little idea of where I'm looking to go. There was a ton of stuff on this show that I liked a lot...but also...we were a little match heavy and I think we could have done with more segments. I did my best to accommodate those who opted in for auto segments. It's hard to do that for people who haven't done an Eruption match or RP at all for their character...makes it tough because I don't want to ruin the vision they have for them.
Regardless, I think this was a great and fun show top to bottom. Give it a read and leave some feedback.
Also, thanks to everyone for understanding my situation today and being cool about it. Hopefully there wasn't too much fretting behind closed doors or anything today. I promise to be better going forward. Thanks again guys! You make this place go!
