What is auto booking / auto segments?
Auto booking and auto segments are a way for you to keep your character involved and active if you happen to miss a booking thread or can’t get a segment in on time. There’s a good chance this isn’t your first efed. There’s different trains of thought on how to handle segments and getting booked. Some people are used to doing both themselves while others may come from places that have taken care of it for them. Auto booking and auto segments gives the writer the ability to do whatever they’re most comfortable with. Obviously, I prefer that you submit your own segments and write the character as you deem fit. I will do my best to give a character a sense of direction and a story for those who opt in for auto segments.
What’s the catch with auto booking / auto segments?
Auto booking and auto segments will continue for each character that has opted into it until a person no shows for two consecutive shows. Once that happens, a character that has opted in for auto booking and auto segments will no longer appear on shows and their character will be removed from the roster.
What’s the deal with the Wednesday to next Saturday to next Wednesday schedule?
When I first started putting WLCW together, a weekly show was what I was really wanting to do. But I also felt like in the current efed landscape, every two weeks is more of the norm. As a compromise, I settled on basically an every 10 day (or so) format for scheduling. This gives writers a chance to work with a deadline that suits them best for their schedule. If the Friday night deadline is easier to meet for you, then maybe just booking yourself for the Saturday shows consistently is the way to go. Same if a Tuesday night deadline works out better for you and so on.
What happens when people forget it’s the Saturday show instead of the Wednesday show?
Yeah, I mean…that’s probably going to happen at some point. I really hope it doesn’t and people are able to stay on top of the deadline and knowing when their RPs are due.
Speaking of RPs, what are you looking for in RPs and how will matches be judged?
I’ve been in the world of real character efeds for a long time now. I really can’t even properly date myself as I started in the very early 2000s, took a break and come back in 2010 or so. I’m a fan of creativity grounded in realism. I want you to tell the story you want to tell and I want to be drawn in to your character and what they’re going through. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a smack talk promo either cutting down your opponent over a story driven narrative. The best writers can do both and make it work. In the end, I’d like to think I’m just a fan of good writing and engaging stories. Write the character you want to write and tell the story you want to tell and I’m willing to bet that wins will come from that.
Why is there no discord for the efed?
Discord is a weird creature. It can bring a sense of togetherness and community at times and other times, it can be a weird and lonely place for inactive channels. I’ve seen the good and the bad and don’t see the need for it – at least for now in WLCW. People shouldn’t need reminders on when their RPs are due and notifications that a show has been posted. The schedule, while different, will remain consistent and if it’s professional wrestling conversation you’re craving, there’s a good number of places where you can find it. I would assume almost everyone in WLCW has a discord presence in some manner and if you wanted to get a hold of them and talk about stories or feuds, there are ways you can do that as well.
How do you see WLCW in the role of the world of wrestling?
The way I see it, WLCW is conglomerated and monopolized down to be the only wrestling company in the world. Aside from picking up all the best wrestling talent in the world, they picked up and snagged the best wrestling producers and show runners from around the globe. WLCW is very much a global entity with millions of fans around the world. These shows don’t have an “indy feel” to them and are very highly produced. No budget was spared to get this company off the ground and no amount will be spared to make it the greatest wrestling company in the history of the sport.
What is WLCW's stance on the pandemic and how it should be handled?
We are going to treat it as though everything up to December 31st, 2021 is canon and the history of the world. Everything that happens afterwards will be a world that we help shape and create for our characters. Covid, the pandemic and the lack of crowds within the last few years are all fair game and part of the world that our characters have existed and lived within.
What's the deal with the writing prompts in the feedback thread? Do I have to use them?
The writing prompts that will be left in the feedback thread by me are 100% completely optional. Sometimes in the world of efeds, when we find ourselves not working a feud or story with someone, we lack direction or something to write about for our character. I'm hoping that writing prompts give people some guidance and direction if they feel like they're lacking it. By no means is it me saying "your character should be reacting to this thing that happened on the show" but in most times, I'd like to think that the writing prompts I give are things that your character would and should be reacting to in the WLCW.
How does WLCW Eruption on YouTube work?
Eruption is akin to AEW Dark in it's presentation and how it's done. It has a separate set of announcers from main shows and is almost predominantly all squash matches (I don't wanna say 100% always will be because we may do a special Eruption one day). The day after Storm or Vengeance is posted, the thread for Eruption will be created in it's sub-board. The thread will stay open and you will have the option to write a squash match for your character to get a win and build some momentum for yourself. If you find your character in a rut and want to get a win, this is the way to do it. If you're looking to debut a new finishing move or move set altogether, this is a place for you to do that. Your match will be written by you, not me for Eruption. The day before Storm and/or Vengeance, the Eruption thread will be locked and archived as an official episode. Some quick hits about Eruption.
- Your character can only have one match per Eruption. If you handle seven characters and want each of them to have a match on Eruption, that's allowed. Just no more than one match per character.
- A list of opponents will be provided for you to use for Eruption in the Feedback and Booking Thread sub-forum. You may only utilize opponents that are on the list. Characters can graduate from the list and be picked up by handlers and thus, removed from the list of usable opponents.
- There are no limitations to what you can do to your opponent in their match short of causing bodily harm or injuring them in some way.
- Eruption matches will count towards a character's permanent Win / Loss record in WLCW.
