Stuck here at work, writing this in Microsoft word while reading stuff on my phone to give some detailed feedback.
I know as the person in charge of the decisions and stuff here that this kind of feedback may be a bit of a slippery slope, but I hope it doesn’t get to that point. Each of you has a unique and almost distinct writing style and your RPs reflect that. I want to give feedback and appreciation where it’s due.
First of all, again, apologies. And I know that a lot of you guys don’t I need to or should have to apologize, but there’s stuff that didn’t make it on the show that I really wanted to get there. Guys who opted in to autosegs and have been around and didn’t get a place on the show…I apologize. 2.0, Ronda, Danielson, Blondes and Devitt…I apologize as I had segments planned for you guys to give you some direction to move forward from this show…but again, got called in to work today. Didn’t want to make you guys wait another 7 or so hours for the show and tried to make it work. Onto the show itself.
jeff I know you’ve been struggling to kind of find some footing here, and believe it or not, I can actually tell from your writing that you’re probably pushing it a bit. MJF is a tried and true classic old school efed character in the sense of what you’re trying to do with him. I liked what you were doing in the 2nd RP and then with the OOC note…which, yeah, I mean it sucks. Jaz is a good dude who had some sudden life changes come up recently. All is well with him, but he’s not been in a place or state mentally where he can do much writing. I hate it, because his initial stuff with Strowman was different, fun and unique. I had hopes of him vs MJF to be a huge deal and thought of the Kitchen Nightmare match a few weeks ago and thought that was just a fun match idea. So, I still wanted to follow through on it. I know we’ll have times where we have absent champions, and I’ll do my best to get the belt(s) off them sooner in those situations than we had here, but yeah…Jeff, your stuff is still really good and there’s a reason you’ve racked up the accolades in multiple places the last few years now. Keep grinding and find that balance between Wardlow and MJF. I hope the writing gets to fun for you again.
Brett Really liked your Punk stuff for this show. Loved the layout you made and again, much like Jeff, I hope you’re able to find some enjoyment in what you’re doing and finding the balance in your life that you need. I know you’re not here simply as a favor to me and that this is something you enjoy doing, so I hope you’re able to get to that sweet spot in your life where this comes naturally and easy again. We’ve always kind of held Punk up on this pedestal because of how we’ve seen him played in the past. So it’s a bit daunting to be him sometimes from that I would guess. Sucks your opponent no showed. I didn’t really expect that as he’s usually been a late poster in the dealings I’ve had with him in the past. You were going to be hard to beat though, Brett. Good stuff and I hope this keeps you motivated and keeps the wheels turning. I know you’re just a kid being sick or a work emergency away from having even less time to devote to this – and I understand that. But you also know when you’re at your best, there’s not a lot that can come close to you and what you’re doing when you’re on your game.
Taylor Know you’ve had your frustrations at time getting something going and finding a serious tone for Reigns. You’ve reached out about doing some different things and being a part of some different scenes and levels here. I want you to know that I appreciate that and your effort and wanting to contribute. I’ll be reaching out to you soon to see what we can make work. Congrats on this win though.
Yeah man, that tag team match…so, uh…let me just start by saying that
this was the match that got hurt the most with my time being cut short. The ending got rushed and guys / teams didn’t get the chance to shine in the match like they should have. The text asking me to come in came right as I pressed my finger to the key to start writing it (it was the final match being written). So, apologies to guys like
geoff FUZ and
Kyle because their work warranted longer runs in the match and more shine, spots and lines in there. I genuinely feel terrible about how short I had to cut it. I was so close to being done with the show with this match being all that lacked before putting it together…and I knew I could just come back after work and write the match and finish results, but I also wanted to get the show up when I said I would. I’m sure you guys aren’t too upset, but know if you read that match…it was supposed to be more than it was and I’m sorry. Geoff, your stuff was again really good. You’re getting the guns tone and voice down. They’re a fun tag team that I enjoy writing matches for and you seem to enjoy writing them. It was a tough loss, I’m sure, but not one you should take too badly or be too down about. I think you’ve got a good thing here and will be challenger in the division for longer than just this one show. Fuz and Kyle, kudos on coming together and putting stuff out after being just thrown together. I mentioned my idea of doing the wild card tag team thing and you guys both jumped at the chance and grabbed it by the horns. I appreciate your willingness to jump into that and give it your all given the random situation of it all. That being said, congrats to
mrhacksaw for having maybe my favorite RP of the week. The stuff he’s doing with the wingmen and the story he’s weaving is really really good. He’s mixing in their real world shenanigans with the matches his guys are booked in and just doing an all around great job. The four of them are all so eclectic and unique, but together they’re hilarious and Dave does a tremendous job of writing dialogue in a real, believable cadence and tone. I was really impressed with his stuff coming into this show and he knocked it out of the park with this RP. So, kudos and congrats to him.
Triple threat number one contender’s match is one that should have got a little more love than it did as well. I had planned on going back and fleshing out more spots, but again…time. @vinny you’re really doing some fun stuff with Black that I’m really enjoying. Bringing in Warhorse after he was dropped and using him the way you have is something that I really like a lot.
cleve I thought the Nash RP was different in a good way. You are a master of getting the tone and feel of a character across. I can sense Nash’s easygoingness and laid back attitude in your writing. You had Foley done perfectly as well and it was just a fun RP to read. You’ve had some tough matchups here early on and I hope that the results don’t deter you from keeping your head down and going. Losses suck and I know you’re like the rest of us in that you don’t like to lose. I feel bad that I’ve put you in these tough spots and tough matches against really good writers…but it’s hard to avoid that around here.
dustin I’m sure that’s a tough one. Your stuff was solid and you’ve got Lesnar’s voice down really well. Not a ton I think you could have done different or switched up. You were just in there with two really talented writers and it’s tough to get a win in that situation. Feel like I kind of painted myself into a corner with the triple threat match where I had maybe 5 of the 6 best RPs from the world title battle royale all kind of facing each other in different matches and it was just hard to judge and make it so everyone had something to feel good about coming out of it. This stuff is very difficult sometimes.
Was super excited about the Clash at the Canyon announcement. Think having an outdoor venue for our next SuperShow is going to create a cool dynamic and I’m looking forward to the RPs and segments and other things we can do at the Grand Canyon in the build up to that show.
The women’s title match…really just not fair, guys. That a few of you had to lose that one is not a fun decision for me to have to make.
grandprincess dustin and
Anthony your guys’ work was off the charts this last RP. The character development you’ve all made and the storytelling you’ve done. No one sets the scene like Zelda as far as writing goes. I felt the intensity in what Noa was saying towards the end of your RP and thought your description text went a long way in painting a picture for me and the reader. Anthony’s stuff with Jamie going home was great too. Love the dynamic between her and Drake and I hope it’s something we continue to explore. Julia Hart working with Ken Anderson…but not it not being the former Bengals quarterback was a disappointment. The dive into Momo’s past and some of the factors that led to her becoming the ruthless monster she is today…I mean, we do this thing sometimes in efeds where we try and shape our story with flashbacks and callbacks to things. It’s hard to do and it’s even harder to do it well and have it make sense. I felt Momo’s pain and disdain for the society and life she had to be a part of…hard to believe this all could have been different had she taken up golf like her teacher told her to. All kidding aside, it was just a very well written piece from Josh on Momo. Just a great RP from a great writer. He’s gonna be tough to beat, but I know for a fact that there people in that match that can do it. Just gonna be a matter of stepping up and getting it done.
Listen, I hated having to do the countout ending between
neelan and
mattg because that seems like such a copout to it. But honestly, Neelan didn’t deserve to take a pinfall loss on that one because the RPs were so damned close. I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I read them in order so when I got done with Neelan’s, I literally just sat here this morning and thought “well that didn’t really make anything clear.” I had to give them a second read and kind of see how I was feeling after that and went with my gut. These decisions are so tough sometimes and if Neelan came to me tonight and asked “what made the difference?” it would be hard to justify an answer because they RPs were good in different ways. They both felt
real and they were both grounded in a world that we’ve all created together. Making these tough decisions is far and away the worst part of this fed for me…because Neelan didn’t deserve to lose with the RP he wrote this week. I think if we run that match back 10 more times, they’d probably split it five and five honestly. This was just one where Cardona got the nod over Devitt.
Right, so this world championship match. I had the ending in my head but was never sure who I wanted to take the bump until reading the RPs (obviously). The big back bodydrop over the ladder and onto thumbtacks…man, it just
seemed like a cool visual. Hopefully it was for you guys who read it. The Craven Knyte stuff was just too fun to not include. I know Scott is talented enough to spin that off in a fun and unique way whichever way he decides to go with it. @plyum I’m so sorry man. I know this hurts and I know you really wanted this. I would say you could take solace in your Blazers, but they literally just sold the farm for peanuts. So, again…sorry. You and
Scott had such little time to get something built up and you took full advantage of what you were given. I wanted the match to feel intense and like there was a lot of animosity between you two. I think that’s what came across. Obviously, I’m a fan of your work, man. You made the final two of a 40+ man battle royale…but this one was just one on one and you feel short. Doesn’t mean your stuff was crap or not good. Scott just got you on this one with some fun storytelling. Kudos to him. He’s come in and taken a real life aspect of Cody and run with it in a way that I’ve enjoyed since the beginning. His posts in social media and presence on Eruption did not factor in my decision for this match, but I can tell you that the work he put in there helped shape his story, narrative and character in a way that led to him getting this huge win.
Big congrats to all the winners. I’m starting to really get more and more into this place the further we all go together. There’s going to be some hurt people after reading this show and I understand that. You all know how to get a hold of me if you want to talk about your direction or any of the decisions I’ve made.
Thank you…each and every one of you for being here and making these shows and matches special. That means the absolute world to me and I hope I churn out results that show that appreciation.
