Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss were watching the live draw when they saw the wild card team come up. Happy Corbin crushed his wine glass in his hand causing the red wine to come spilling from his fingers.
“Is something wrong buddy?” Madcap Moss said as he signaled for a maid to rush in and clean up the mess. “Do you want me to change the channel? I hear the superbowl is coming up”. Corbin took a deep breath and only smiled.
“No no… I’m fine. I just am amused by this company, it really is comedic when you look at it. You have the eldest of old men battling, and when they are extended the hand of generosity.” He holds up his one good hand “To a feeling of sublime happiness? They bite that hand and throw it into one of the most unforgiving environments. I would say I’m insulted for that action, but I’m more insulted by this.”
Baron Corbin looked at the butler cleaning up the glass and casually poured the rest of the red wine onto the kneeled over person. A disgusted look crossing his face.
“Is this what you’re settling for? Living on your hands and knees? I used to be in your position… begging for the smallest of scraps. Look at you, living in filth and you are not fighting back because you can’t escape a paycheck. I am not held back by this kind of limitation. I could end a career, be pushed out of the business and moss and I? We would be set for life.”
He laughed and smashed the bottle on the ground.
“That is the danger of us all, we have nothing to lose. That belt? It is nothing more than to prove to these fools what we already know. That we are the strongest bond in the world. We’re smarter. We’re stronger, and we are hungry. These other teams thrown together, lethargic by their poor attempts at businesses, and old and worn down? Do you think they hold a chance against us? That’s why it’s laughable, it’s one of the greatest jokes in the world! This promotion is like a clown balancing on a tight rope. And if we lose, let them have their moment. They will always live in our shadow.”
He relaxed as a nurse attended to his hand and two other servants replaced his glass with a full one with his full one. Which he causally sipped from.
“This is what you have to learn Madcap Moss. You’re my best friend in the world, but you have yet to understand the pure power that our capital gives us. Think on it. And get back to me when Ascention comes”
He gets up and turns off the television leaving Madcap to think in silence.
